Around Comics: The End

Postby Chris » Sat Jan 23, 2010 10:17 am

Hey folks!

We announced it on twitter last night, and in the coming Monday's show. Around Comics is coming to it's conclusion. We have 10 episodes (and a couple book clubs) left. Our big blowout party to celebrate the last 4+ years of AC will be at C2E2. I hope you can make it to the con and party down with us.

We have 4 more live recordings, and I'll make sure to post the dates and times for each. If you're in the Chicago area I hope you can make it in for one of the last recordings.

It's been a great ride, and the time was right. Thank you to everyone that has listened and been involved in helping to make AC the amazing experience it was.

Sorry to hear the news. Does this also put a premature end to the Windy City Comic Con?

Congrats on a truly remarkable show. You all should be proud of the work you put into it.

Dammit man, it took me like two years to work up the courage/come up with something worth asking to call the show, and like a week ago I do, and now this. Damn. Well I'm really going to miss you guys. Your show is awesome and I hope someday you get brought back from the dead (as long as you promise not to eat my heart... again).

Unfortunatley, My first post on the forum is the post I never wanted to have to write.

Congratulations on a great run. Chris, Sal, Tom, Mike, Skottie, and John; you all are true pioneers of the comic podcast "medium" and will never be forgotten. Thank you for adding a little more joyful entertainment in my life the last several years. Also thank you for getting me back into comics. I will never be able to repay you for that. And thank you for influencing me to join the podcast community and become apart of another show.

c2e2 is a must now for me.Lets make these last episodes some of the most unforgettable and celebrate the juggernaut that was and always will be Around Comics. Thanks guys ;)

Well, this news certainly killed my morning.

First Q!PAW (supposedly), now AC? It's a damn damn shame. At least there's still Crankcast, Tom vs The Flash, and 11 O'Clock Comics, right?? None of those are leaving too, right?!!?

Seriously, you guys did some truly great work for the medium with this show. You helped to spread the word of so many new comics and artists that could have so easily been passed up. It won't be the same without you all doing what you do.

I can't wait to shake all your hands at C2E2 and thank you for your hard work. Thanks for all the entertainment over the years.

So Tom managed to do what Sal couldn't -- stab a steely blade in the heart of Chicago's preeminent comic book podcast and kill "Around Comics."

This is bigger than House Harkonnen's demise on Arrakis.

While it's certainly disappointing that you guys are calling it a day, I have nothing but thanks to give you. I've never really had friends who also collected comics, and you guys became that for me. I sincerely loved listening to you banter about comics, and you'll be missed.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Dam.it.

Seriously guys,
I will miss the show alot.
It always kept me going when I would be sketching late at night.

I'll try to keep the vibe alive on my podcast, Wrapped In Plastic
http://wrappedinplastic.podomatic.com/

Every Thursday.

My favourite Around Comics moment?
Listening to Sal(the 2nd), tell the Grant Morrison shitting his pants story on acid.

Outstanding.
Here`s to a few awesome podcast heavyweights.
Chris : the brains
Sal : the asshole
Tom : the drunk

I`ll miss you guys,
peace.

Well, I have one less cool podcast to look forward to now, but I am a big fan of "All good things must come to an end."
You guys got me back into comics, turned me onto the world of podcasts and gave me the ability to go out and create my own podcast.
Trying not to be hyperbolic here, but you changed my life. Thanks for keeping me company while slaving away at the post office and painting my house.
I will always cherish these last few years.

Very sad to hear the news, I've been listening for a long time. Thank you.
Chris, Don't go leaving 11 0'clock Comics (although AC is better), you were born to be a broadcaster.
